On Monday 23rd November, 5th and 6th class set off for the National Opera House to perform for the first time with Sing Out Loud. For the last eight weeks they have been put through their paces by Ms Kay Grace and Ms Eimear Lyng and have learned a wide array of songs from the classics of the Sound of Music to the modern 'Shake it off'. They joined with children from three other Wexford schools for the concert. The songs ranged from a pop medley, christmas songs, many school's favourite 'I am the Earth', a rock and roll medleyto the Anthem ' Sing Out Loud'. Guest Artists on the night included the very talented 11 year old Jirat O Neill who sang Charlie Chaplin's 'Smile', the amazing 13 year old singer/songwriter Rachael Grace who sang 'Hallalluia' and the heart stopping Silk Gymnast 18 year old Tara Doyle Robinson who wowed us with her wonderful routine on silk hanging from the ceiling of the Opera House. The children danced their way through all their songs led by their chorus mistress, Naoimh Penston. They brought the roof down shouting and dancing to the drums of Extreme Rhythm, Wexford's fantastic percussion group led by Nicky Bailey. They were exhausted by the end of the night but loved every minute of it as did their very proud parents and teachers.
