Letters to parents

31 March 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You will all be aware now that the government has decided our schools will remain closed until 19th April at the very earliest. This is a new situation in which we find ourselves and our families and we can only do our best. Our teachers have set up SeeSaw Learning which will allow them to set work for the children and allow the children to send completed work back to the teacher. Some families will find this facility very helpful and help structure the day at home. Others, may find it does not work for their family at present. I am conscious especially of parents who are continuing to work on the frontline, those who are trying to work from home surrounded by young children or those who cannot access devices or suitable broadband.
Please be assured, when we return to school our teachers will address any gaps in learning which your child may have. Do your best with the work assigned but children will learn so much from spending time with you, playing board games, playing outside, playing card games, baking, skipping, having conversations on the telephone/video calls, practising their favourite sport. Parents are the primary educators of their children and will know the life skills your child needs to work at developing most.

Email Addresses for Aladdin Schools Connect App
As mentioned in last Friday’s email, we are setting up Aladdin Schools Connect which will make communication between parents and school a little easier through the use of an app. Before we introduce this, it is important that we have up to date contact information for all parents and pupils.  In particular, we would like to gather email addresses for our pupils fathers’.  Please send these to schooloffice@rathgaroguens.com . Thank you to all parents who have sent these already.

Bus Eireann School Transport
Bus Eireann school transport for September 2020 is now available online at https://www.education.ie/en/Parents/Services/School-Transport/ Take care, stay home, stay safe and hopefully we will see you all soon.
Kind Regards,
Anne-Marie O’ Neill
