On Tuesday 14th February 5th and 6th class Green School Reps were invited to the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorthy for an information day all about 'Water'. There were reps from 11 other schools there too.
The day involved lots of fun activities and experiments. We created our own ideal water school plan.
There was a guest speaker from Irish Water. She told us lots of interesting information like how water is cleaned and what we shouldn't put down our toilets. We learned lots about what should be done to save and conserve water.
by Katelyn Doyle.
Some of the interesting facts we learned were-
Only 1% of all of the water in the world can be used for drinking water.
97% of the water in the world are in our oceans and seas and is not suitable for drinking as it is salty water.
The remaining 2% is found in glaciers.
We did cool experiments to show that pollution cannot always be seen but it is often there.
We looked at how water gets from the clouds to our taps.
The day was thoroughly enjoyable and we are more determined than ever to achieve our Green School Flag. We hope that with all the school working together we will achieve this.
We would really like to thank Ms Una Rossiter for arranging the day for us and travelling down with us to Enniscorthy.
