Jump, Hop, Skip and Play, Scoil Naomh Áine is fit today!
Here in Scoil Naomh Áine we are proud holders of the Active School Flag. This year we are working hard to renew this flag. We pride ourselves on being a very active school and listed below are some of the initiatives and activities we have undertook to keep everyone in our school fit and healthy:
Run Around Ireland Challenge:
Several classes are currently undertaking the Active Schools challenge of running to various landmarks around Ireland. We have already clocked up lots of kilometres of running!
Games promotion officer James Flynn visits our school every Tuesday to work on the various fundamental movement skills with all classes. We love all the games and activities James does with us.
This year we are having individual class sports days as part of our Active School Week. Our Active School committee members have been busy coming up with lots of ideas for our sports days such as: obstacle course, egg and spoon race, penalty shout out, disco, limbo, hurdles, capture the flag, dodge ball, monkey tails etc.
Scoot to School:
In collaboration with the Green Schools committee we took part in the national ‘Scoot to School Day’ where lots of pupils came to school by scooter and bike.
’12 Days of Fitmas’:
The whole school took part in a ‘12 Days of Fitas’ challenge where we undertook a series of exercises’ every day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas, we had lots of fun!
Here in Scoil Naomh Áine we know the importance of staying active so throughout the day all classes ensure they have some movement breaks. These include activities such as Go noodle, Bizzy Breaks, Cosmic Yoga etc.
Active Walk Way:
We have a walk way marked around our school grounds which classes use regularly.
